Reason Klopp Not Play Mignolet At Liverpool Vs Arsenal
Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp, gave an explanation regarding the reasons for the absence of Simon Mignolet against Arsenal in the Premier League match at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (27/08/2017).
The match became the first time Simon Mignolet did not appear in the 2017-2018 season.
In fact, the 29-year-old goalkeeper was not seen on the bench.
Instead, Klopp plays Loris Karius as the main choice.
The bench is occupied by third goalkeeper of The Reds, Daniel Ward.
In fact, Mignolet was not injured or sanctioned a ban.
Inevitably, Klopp’s decision was linked with rumors of Mignolet’s move to Napoli to replace Pepe Reina.
“All this just to give him a break, no more, we want him to rest in order to maintain his good performance after appearing in four games in a short time,” said Klopp told Sky Sports.
“We want to have three strong goalkeepers who look ambitious in the training sessions because they want to get the playing minutes, so today Loris is performing,” he said.
Mignolet report card itself can not be said good.
He has conceded seven times in four premieres this season.
